their transition is made illegal at 12:00 a.m. January 1st, The Count signs off and there is silence. All of their loyal viewers, who we see in clips throughout the film, all seem to be shocked until The Count returns seconds later to rock out some more. The crew and the fans all begin to celebrate to the sounds of The Kinks and it was more fun to watch than any music video.

Obviously enough, the films soundtrack is outstanding. With a wide variety of rock bands from one of rock’s greatest eras, they would have had to try and make it unknowable. With names like The Kinks, The Beach Boys, The Who and so much more; this soundtrack is quite the collection of exceptional music. I am procuring a copy of it myself right now. In fact this entire review has been written to The Kink’s greatest hits.

Not nearly as much fun as the trailer makes it seem, Pirate Radio manages to not disappoint too much. In fact, it is actually quite enjoyable with the exception of some things just being too depressing for this style of film. The drama does drive the film in some ways, but it is overdone. With that in consideration, the movie does what it sets out to do, and that is to be fun. Even though it isn’t the case from start to finish it gets the job done. With low valley’s, its peaks seem event higher.

Movie Grade: B
