City of Ember, Walden Media's latest adaptation of a well-regarded kids book, just released its first poster. It doesn't give away much (I guess that's why it's called a "teaser), but the film is still worth mentioning because it's shaping up to be a surprisingly cool little flick. First check out the two previously-released images:

Frankly the synopsis sounds a bit like a rip-off of The Giver, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing given that The Giver is my all-time favorite kids book. Taking place in a mysterious small city of an unspecified time and place, with no moon, stars, or sun, light is provided by floodlamps that glow for twelve hours each day. 12-year-olds Lina (Saoirse Ronan, soon to also be seen in The Lovely Bones) and Doon have just been assigned their "Life Jobs," as a Messenger and Pipeworker, and they soon stumble upon an enigmatic puzzle which might reveal the secret nature of the City of Ember.

The best part: as you can see above, Bill Murray plays the possibly evil Mayor of the City. The rest of the cast is also terrific; it includes Tim Robbins, Martin Landau, Harry Treadaway and Toby Jones.

Check out the poster below. The film debuts this October, and it's rumored that the first trailer will appear attached to The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian this weekend; we'll feature it as soon as it makes its way online.
