Yesterday, the story of Owen Wilson's hospitalization spread like wildfire, as did rumors about how he got there. Since none of it has been confirmed, spreading them seems distasteful, but apparently the actor is well enough to release a statement asking for privacy.
"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," the brief statement reads.
The event puts into question some of his career plans; he was supposed to appear in a cameo role in Ben Stiller's upcoming Tropic Thunder, which is currently filming. He also would have participated in the press tours for the upcoming Darjeeling Limited, directed by Wes Anderson, which he co-stars in. Both commitments now sound unlikely. We wish him a speedy recovery. |
