Regis Philbin announced today on Live with Regis and Kelly that he will undergo triple bypass surgery. The 75 year old actor does not know when he will return to the show.

This is not the first time he has had trouble with his heart. In 1993, Regis had an angiogram and was back on the set 3 days later.

Regis hasn't lost his quips after all these years, as he replied to Kelly Ripa's offer to be his sponge bath nurse with, "Why don't you give me a quick dip before I go?"
