A day after Olmos broke the news, Galactica executive producer David Eick denied the story. ""For those of you who have been paying attention over the years, this is not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the possibility of the show's end. I promise you that when [executiuve producer] Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about Galactica's future, we'll let you know," he told Sci-Fi.com.

Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff, stars of The SciFi Channel's cult hit Battlestar Galactica, revealed that the show will end at the end of its fourth season.
IESB spoke with the two stars separately at the annual Saturn Awards yesterday, May 10th. Olmos was the first to break the news: "This will probably be the most extraordinary season of Battlestar, it’s the final season so, it’s definitely going to be the most vicious."
Later, Sackhoff was more coy - "this may be our last year" - but basically admitted to it: "If Eddie is saying it, I guess I can repeat it."
Galactica saw lower ratings in its third season than its second, but it remains one of SciFi's tentpole shows. Neither star seemed to know much about the rumored spin-off Caprica. |
