William Shatner talks being left out of new Star Trek movie

Back in late July at Comic-Con, J.J. Abrams, director of the upcoming Star Trek movie, talked about William Shatner playing a potential role. The film is a prequel to the events of the original series, yes, and Chris Pine is set to play a younger Captain Kirk. But Leonard Nimoy is set to be in it, so if Spock, why not Kirk? Abrams explained that they don't want to bring Shatner onboard unless they have a really good part for him or a really good way to use him, and they were still trying to figure that out.

It's been a few months now, however, and Shatner still hasn't been approached to play any kind of role. With the filming about to start, the original Captain Kirk himself talked a little bit about being snubbed out of the film:
