Zack and Miri Make a Porno just came out with a red-band trailer that finally shows off some footage from the film, and it's excellent: very raunchy and very hilarious. And frankly, with the addition of Craig Robinson and Justin Long, it feels a heck of a lot like something coming out of the Judd Apatow camp. Or maybe just When Harry Met Sally... with lots of swearing and nudity. Check it out below:
Unfortunately, that's not the whole story. Accompanying the release of the trailer was supposed to be a brand new poster, but was deemed too racy by the MPAA, which basically banned it here in the U.S.
Sucks, but oh well, right? Not so fast. The poster bears a striking similarity to one of the MPAA-approved posters for last fall's Good Luck Chuck -- and if anything, Good Luck Chuck's is raunchier. So in other words, the MPAA is full of crap. Check out the two posters for yourself -- the Zack and Miri one was nabbed by Entertainment Weekly prior to the mass burning:
Luckily, looking past this nonsense, the film itself didn't have to be dumbed down very much -- it was slapped with an NC-17 twice, but the second time Smith appealed to the board and won an R-rating without further cuts. ❏
